What’s New

If you are looking for a list of the best or newest places to eat in Malaysia and (or) the world over, you’ll find little of that here – even after our revamp. Instead, the all-new blog format points you towards what you’re really hungry for: hearty authentic meals in the places that concocted or perfected these recipes. Great taste is, after all, inseparable from great places. Read an appetizing snippet, take in a meaty essay, or get carried away by a sweet and funny comic – now specially categorized under the following categories for your reading pleasure.

EAT OUT | It’s tough living in Kuala Lumpur and in the greater areas of the Klang Valley, where we are often plagued by the “What and where to makan?” question, only to be met with a mildly frustrating “Anything-lah” reply. From the city’s oldest kitchens to the chic mod-kitchens and current favourites, you’ll find a list of Food & Beverage outlets that I’ve had experienced with and hope you’ll one day have an encounter of your own there too.

EAT IN | Despite the ease of having a meal outside, it’s sometimes nice to just stay home, curl up on your sofa with a good book in-hand and immerse yourself in the comforts of a soulful dish. I post up anything from literary food for the mind to soulful and comfortining home cooked meals; anything in relation to dining at home – recipes both old and new, dinner parties which I’ve had the honour of attending, newly-discovered TV shows, books, etc.

EAT FAR, FAR AWAY | To travel is to discover new taste. From local Malaysian destinations to far-flung corners of the world, you’ll find essays on how I savour the world one dishy destination at a time. Explore the gastronomic side of travel through these stories, where you’ll find me tucking into hard-won and treasured recipes in my travels, in hopes of pointing out gastronomic landmarks which you can consider when you  plan your own adventure.

And introducing, the up-coming EAT WITH ME guides | An alternative city guide written for traveling foodies in mind. These food trails are specially prepared by locals who were given the task to highlight their favourite places to eat. The brief: 1-city/24-hours/5-meals, where would you bring us to eat? From casual cook to the seasoned traveler to the serious gourmand, these unique guide aims to inspire readers to experience food in a new way, exploring new lands, new cultures, and new cuisines. Chefs, travel writers, and dedicated foodies share their unique experiences, transporting readers into kitchens in Morocco, Italy, Belize, Cyprus, Kenya, Vietnam and elsewhere around the world, revealing the diverse traditions of other countries through their favourite cuisine and restaurants.
