The Fat Duck Builds Anticipation with Like A Kid In A Sweet Shop Video

Foodies worldwide and haute cuisine-stalkers would have read this piece of news earlier this week.

But just in case you haven’t, let me bring you up to speed. Top British chef Heston Blumenthal has recently added another layer to the dining experience at his Michelin-starred restaurant by creating a virtual candy store meant to whet his guests’ appetites before their big meal during a two-months wait – which is the average wait time before one gets to savour his “candies” at The Fat Duck in Bray, just outside London. Diners will be sent an email invitation to tour a virtual sweet shop that will feature elements of their upcoming meal.

The aim of the invite, explains Blumenthal in a behind-the-scene video, is to inspire the kind of childlike wonderment wide-eye kids experience in a candy store and to enhance the guest experience right from the time they hit the booking button. Only diners with reservations will be view to the entire video — and even then can only be watched three times! Talk about being British snobbery.
