That’s what you said you were good for,
You said you couldn’t do anything,
You couldn’t take the pain away,
Or stop the fever,
All you could offer was your company,
Keeping me far from the stretches of loneliness.
In your opinion, was all you can do,
While the nurse stuck a huge needle in,
Drawing blood in gallons from my vein,
You looked deeply into my eyes;
And offered me assurance;
Keeping my mind away from the pain.
Nothing I should be afraid of, you encouraged,
Not of the dark and definitely not of tomorrow’s ‘exploration’
This will all be over soon;
But just for tonight, as I put my head down to sleep,
You gently wiped my tears before you left,
Taking away with you my fears.
I have nothing to worry about,
Because you spoke to the Lord above,
To watch over me,
To have peace surrounding me,
And you leave me in His care,
I have nothing to worry; I’m in good hands.
Can take the joy and calm away from me,
Because I have you in my life,
You have given me love and hope
And a glimpse of what our future could be like,
So, thank you for being my everything,
Even if you insist you’ve done NOTHING.
McCutie, thanks for all your suffering. Hope you get well soon.
