I’m officially suffering from Post-Holiday Syndrome. You know you have it when you can feel the sea breeze in your face while sorting through your vacation pictures (in my case, there are 3,000). I knew this would happen and I saw it coming. And the fact that today is a Monday is actually making me feel worst. Why oh why can’t I have the life of the Paris Hiltons of the world?
Today I’m missing Melbourne. I miss waking up to a great plate of breakfast and a good cuppa coffee. I miss watching Melbournians get on with their daily lives just as much as I miss exploring the city’s hidden gems. And as much as I love my KL, I’m missing Melbourne today.
The week we arrived, we were told that the temperature took a sudden plummet. And while the mercury nosedived, Melbourne’s cultural scene starts to heat up, with art and theater taking center stage. Romance and adventures enveloped the city as love blossoms in the sidewalk cafes, among its aged Victorian-era street scape and Manhattan-styled skyscrapers. Much like it’s (in)famous 4-seasons-in-a-day weather, Melbourne keeps evolving beyond its structured grid and there is always a surprise waiting at every corner from the moment we landed. Be it an intriguing sculpture, a side-alley cafe, an artsy poster, a graffiti wall, a building or just an interesting face. They may be just artsy-sh*t but they sure breathe life and character into this city!
For the next few posts, I’ll break down some of my trip’s highlights with you. Stick around, you might start thinking of your next caffeine fix down under.
