The good people of PJ can now rejoice. Especially those with sweet tooth. Or those craving for a good cupcake. We can all now rejoice as the people of +wondermilk+ has finally opened their first official retail outlet in Damansara Uptown. Cuppacakes® is the name of the place, as for those in the know this is by itself a cult brand which started off in 2006 by 6 very sweet graphic designers. You might not have heard of them, but I’m sure you’ve seen their works around. One of their most prominent design efforts was creating the look for DELICIOUS by Ms. READ. Everything was designed by them from the placemats to the coasters to the menus.
Now, back to their lil cuppacakes. I first heard of them while browsing through KLUE magazine (incidentally designed by them too – brilliant!) and knew of their home-based operations through some friends who swears by their creations and designs. Oh, and for those of your who love the cupcakes over at The Apartment Curve & Apartment Downtown, well guess who makes them? You see, the best part of their cup-cakes is that it comes in various sizes, various cake flavours and custom made designs according to the occasion you want it for. Guess their website sums it up best:
cuppacakes®: known for fine & exquisite cupcake creations. always defined by our attention to detail, beautiful colours, delicious flavours and forever known for our whimsical & creative approach to cupcake design
So now as we stepped into March, which happens to be the birth month of many people I know. And as of last weekend alone, we were celebrating the birthdays of my Boss, a colleague and an Ex of mine. It was only natural that I stopped by over at cuppacakes as it was only a block away from my office to get some of these lovely treats for them.
I further indulged myself to two of my favourite Maxi-sized flavours: Caramel Pecan and Hola! Pina Colada. The former is a sweet caramel topped with a nut sitting on top of a choc-chip cake and the latter was a royal vanilla cake topped with pineapple-flavoured cream cheese and grated coconut! These were going at RM4.50 a piece. While the mini ones for the birthdays were going at RM1.00 each. A little on the hefty side some might say, but it’s worth it! Cos we know how costly bad cupcakes can be!
The cafe is an eclectic space for the cool to chill out, highly creative and quirky all at the same time. They also serve coffee, sandwiches and crepes. Haven’t tried em. Too distracted by the cupcakes most of the time. They also sell artsy postcards, pins and other fun stuff for you to look at.
