Freedom Party

It’s been a while now since Jack&Keith threw a house party. And just as random as their last celebration of Raya with Roast Duck, Meatballs and Scones, we were invited to their Merdeka celebration in conjunction with the warming of their new home and Jack’s birthday.

Their new place was definitely beyond cool and homely. Now who wouldn’t feel at home in a nice cozy YTL neighbourhood right? Food was of course aplenty when they throw a party, but this time round alcohol took centrestage. Great way to free one’s mind on Merdeka eve, or so I heard. This monkey doesn’t drink, so I wouldn’t know now would I?

And since I don’t consume liquor of any sort (unless it’s Rum & Raisins) and go all emo on the truth behind freedom (not the sanitary pad), lets focus on the food now shall we?

Pre-meal ‘4th July’ Snacks (courtesy of one American Brad):
Mini Pretzels with Once-dip-you-can’t-stop Sour Cream and Onion Dip
Social Lubricating Margaritas

‘Merdeka Muhibbah’ Mains:
Freedom to numb everybody’s tongues Curry el Diablo
Melakan-Portuguese Chili Eggplants
Local Fried Mee Hoon
Signature Keith’s Balls (Meatballs that is) & Spaghetti with grated cheese
Queen Dee’s Special Salad (Ceasers Salad she said!)
Hj. Samuri Kajang Satay

‘Too-drunk-by-now’ Desserts:
Cream your own Nigella-inspired-half-tonne-butter Cupcakes
Mind numbing Liquored Cocktail of all sorts

So, who’s to say we’re not celebrating our freedom after all? Happy Merdeka folks!

*Nothing’s wrong with your screen or the colour of the pictures. The faces featured in the pictures were really in all hues of red over the course of the evening.

*Merdeka: Malay expression for freedom and also used in reference to Malaysia’s Independence Day.
* Muhibbah: Malay for multi-racial

    1. I guess if my Merdeka were for the ladies, yours was for the boys mostly, hehe.

    2. And freedom to roam with McCutie in the Land of 51 Gold Olympians? Nah, just kiddin’.

    3. My Merdeka last year was a barbecue + boardgames. This year was mooncakes + riddles. But a cupcake-design-as-you-please buffet? You, sir, take the cake! (No pun intended.)

    Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!

    1. Can’t control who my friend’s friends are now right? I didn’t do the invitation. So what if it’s mostly guys (or are they?)

    2. Hmmm now, now. Don’t tempt me. The poor soul’s feeling homesick there. Apparently nobody can speak decent amount of English.

    3. Again, gotta give it to the Hostess with the Mostess that cake. I was just a guest.

Lol it’s just as well we didn’t do a ‘usual suspects’ lineup or you’d be writing bubbles that say “Free to be with my ex, and his ex, and both their hubbies!”

Too bad my other ex couldn’t make it, or there’d be even more freedom going round :P
