Enlightened Food

Befitting of the Vesak-Day celebration, we joined Albert and Guan on a vegetarian meal over at Citrus Park in a Chinese vegan restaurant called “MAGIC WOK”

And magical it was indeed. Imagine having to cook a dish of vegetarian meal to resemble those with real meat! Takes lots of creativity to cook with so much restrictions. No garlic, onion, leek nor egg. Just plain vegetables! We look through the menu, it was funny to find out that most of these dishes were mainly named after meat dishes!

Here are some of the highlights of this place:

FOUR HEAVENLY GODS: A dish comprising 4 types of plants (Eggplant, long beans, Petai and Tomatoes..cook with mock-sambal belacan) Surprisingly very good!

CLAYPOT ‘SALTED FISH’ and PORK BELLY:Finally, a pork belly dish which I can happily savour. Honestly, the fake pork looks really real with marbling and all!

BUTTERED WHITE MUSHROOM: Mimicking the famous Buttered-Prawn dish sold at all good seafood restaurants, this has got to be one of the best mushroom dishes I’ve tastes. It taste so much like the real thing. You won’t noticed it’s not BUTTERED at all! Would really recommend it.

I would really suggest that one should try this place out. I’ve recently been enlightened about vegetarian food. It’s no longer of just flour-dough stuff. Nowadays, they are all about eating healthy and good too. So why stop at just meaty stuff. Give this a try!

Haha, somehow I can never remember that Citrus Park is just a stone throw from your place. It always seems very very far away!
