Colonel’s Original Recipe

Colonel's Original Recipe

While having a late night snack with McCutie last weekend, we came upon this cut-out standee over at the local KFC. Let’s just say that we laughed hysterically but you know it’s an understatement.

It’s not often that I take a shot at something, but this? How can I not take a shot at something as silly as this? It’s practically calling me by my name! It’ll be a sin not to.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for fusion food, experimental cuisine, promoting local culture, and some might even say that I’m adventurous when it comes to food. But this is just plain wrong and weird. It’s as if somebody over at KFC Malaysia (or worst, its agency – who which should be sack then!) just woke up one fine morning, went over to the warong for a pack of Nasi Lemak & Teh Tarik, look down and say “Hey, what if we translated the beloved Nasi Lemak Bungkus and call it Nasi Lemak Wrap. Put a tortilla around it and viola!” Simply brilliant.

This goes right down there next to Nasi Lemak Pizza from Pizza Hut years ago. Oh wait, it’s a KFC company too ain’t it? Gee, I wonder why it’s not on the permanent menu.

And isn’t it mind boggling why people never think of KFC when it comes to breakfast? Til then, gimme my Original Lunch Plate, with two breast meat and two mash. Now’s that finger lickin’ good!

I’ll have to agree with you. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. They already have a winning formula with their OR chicken. Why push it?

Ask the chef. I only do the dishes. And the rice. And the laundry. And the ironing. Uhm… :P
